Origin of soya :

  • Soya bean is a legume species native to East Asia.
  • It is one of the plant source which offers a complete protein.
  • Soy is the actual protein found in soya bean.
  • Soy also contains essential ammino acids, dietary fiber, calcium , iron , magnesium and phosphorus.

PRODUCTS OF SOYA :

We have two types of soya products fermented and unfermented.

Fermented products :

   Miso ( it’s a traditional Japanese seasoning , it’s a thick paste produced by fermenting soya beans with salt)

  Tempeh (it’s a fermented soya bean which is then formed into bars that can be marinated ,grilled ,sliced or added to soups and salad)

  Natto ( it’s a traditional Japanese food made from whole soya bean that have been fermented with bacillus subtilis)

  Soya sauce ( it’s a liquid condiment of Chinese origin made from fermented paste of soya bean )

Unfermented products:

  Tofu (its made by curdling fresh hot soy milk)

  Soya milk (it’s a plant based drink produced by soaking and grinding soybeans ,boiling the mixture and filtering out the remaining particulate)

  Edamame (it’s a Japanese dish prepared with immature soybean in a pod)

  Soy nuts (its soy beans soaked in water drained and then baked or roasted)

  Soy sprouts (it’s a culinary vegetable grown by sprouting soybeans )

       

   

Even though soy has so many health benefits it’s not recommended on along run as it has genetically modified organism which has long term influence on growth, digestion, sexual maturation, thyroid health and breast cancer.

Avoid genetically modified soy as they cause erectile dysfunction, miscarriage, endometriosis, infertility, hormonal changes.

The soy most Americans eat is processed where as Asians primarily eat fermented soy which reduces the harmful components of soy.

Dr.Mercola says soy is a hormone disruptor its components sometimes mimic and sometimes blocks estrogens which causes infertility and breast cancer.

Soy in little quantity is ok but most of the conventional ,non organic brands contains soy. Cooking spray ,canned tuna, pouched salmon ,chips ,cookies ,bread, tortillos, salad dressing, other condiments ,crackers ,chocolate ,candy ,pasta sauce , baking mixes etc.

Food advocate Jeffrey Smith names 65 GMO health risks including toxins , allergens ,carcinogen , new diseases ,and nutritional problems in his book Genetic Roulette.
